Sometimes, setting aside a day with no responsibilities is the best decision you can make. Today was exactly that—a day just for us, deliberately planned but blissfully unstructured. And it turned out to be exactly what we needed.
We started our morning with coffee, as all proper days should. There’s something about that first sip that tells you everything’s going to be okay. With no urgency, we headed out for a walk in the park—just to ease into the day before our couple’s massage appointment. Little did we know that massage would be a highlight. If you’ve never tried a professional massage, do yourself a favor and book one. It was deeply relaxing, grounding, and honestly, it just felt nice to be cared for. Today, we were the priority—and that felt good.
Afterwards, we rewarded our blissed-out selves with pastries from Lidl. Two, to be exact. Still warm and perfectly delicious. It’s amazing how something so simple can hit the spot so completely.
We did drink some water throughout the day—though I usually drink more—and I definitely had to nudge River a few times to do the same (some things never change!).
We also shared some really good laughs throughout the day—those kinds of laughs that sneak up on you, born from shared looks, silly moments, and old inside jokes. That easy joy is something we never take for granted.
Next up: a second park. More walking, more chatting, more fresh air. There’s something really wholesome about walking aimlessly together—no rush, no agenda. Then came our early dinner and a well-earned margarita. We didn’t plan to walk again, but the first park was nearby, and we figured—why not one more loop?
By the time we got home, our step count was impressive and our bodies were officially done. No guilt, no pressure to be productive—just a full day of enjoying each other, moving at our own pace, and laughing along the way.
It wasn’t extravagant or packed with plans, but it was intentional, joyful, and perfectly ours. That’s more than enough.
